Scottish Terriers are usually used as pets, but were originally working dogs bred to hunt animals in their dens. Scottish Terriers are also known as Aberdeen Terriers after the town of Aberdeen, Scotland. The first Scottish Terriers were bred around the turn of the eighteenth century in Scotland. Modern Scotties date back to Victorian times. Scotties are often groomed with long hair covering their legs, making them appear to be very close to the ground.
