Scottish Terrier Rescue Information: The Scottish Terrier, or Scottie, is a small, typically black, bearded Terrier. Scotties are bold, winsome dogs that are bursting with personality. Scotties are known for being rather temperamental and changeable. Scottish Terriers are willful but also sensitive to harsh training. Obedience training should start early and be consistent and kind. Scotties make good companions for families with older kids. A Scottish Terrier can live in an apartment with enough exercise.

Scottish Terrier Trivia: Scottish Terriers are usually used as pets, but were originally working dogs bred to hunt animals in their dens. Scottish Terriers are also known as Aberdeen Terriers after the town of Aberdeen, Scotland. The first Scottish Terriers were bred around the turn of the eighteenth century in Scotland. Modern Scotties date back to Victorian times. Scotties are often groomed with long hair covering their legs, making them appear to be very close to the ground.
