Scottish Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Grits is a deaf 6 month old terrier mix. He is so full of love and needs a forever family that can shower him with the same love and attention. He understands some basic signs and has done very well with his obedience training. He walks well on a leash and is living in a home with several dogs. He loves car rides and going places, and does not need a crate. Grits loves children too! He will do best with a family that is home and willing to take him places. Grits is very sweet but does suffer from some anxiety and is not suitable for an apartment or someone with close neighbors as he will bark some when you leave him. This has improved ... (Read More)greatly with work and training aides. He is perfectly content and does well when you are home and will only get into trouble if you leave him unattended. Only homes with a fenced yard will be considered (no electric fence). Grits does well with other dogs that are gentle and do not have any food or toy aggression.     Scottish Terriers are usually used as pets, but were originally working dogs bred to hunt animals in their dens. The first Scottish Terriers were bred around the turn of the eighteenth century in Scotland. Modern Scotties date back to Victorian times. Scotties are often groomed with long hair covering their legs, making them appear to be very close to the ground.
